A pioneer in computer and telephony integration (CTI), NEC
Corporation envisioned the convergence of voice and data in the
mid-1970s. Today, NEC maintains an enviable reputation for
developing leading-edge technology (NEC was ranked number two in
U.S. patents in 2000 and 2001) and continues to promote the
convergence of emerging technologies.
The new Corporate Center, located in
the Las Colinas area of Irving, Texas, within the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, embodies
that philosophy. The three-building, 555,000 square foot facility,
which formally opened in early Spring 2001, features more than 15,000
square feet of laboratory space. Bringing many research and development
disciplines together in one location, the Corporate Center creates
a synergistic environment for enhanced communication and collaboration
between the various business groups.
Leading edge research and development is already underway in Voice
over IP (VoIP), fiber optics, digital broadband software and network
management systems to name a few.
Building the NEC Corporate Center was more than an investment
in brick and mortar. It was a commitment to an ongoing corporate
philosophy that puts NEC at the forefront of technological development
now and in the future.
