Professional Services?
The purpose of NEC Professional Services is to supplement our Associates'
technical capabilities in areas involving new applications, advanced technologies,
complex networks and multi-vendor collaborative installations. NEC Professional
Services are available for all three phases of the product life cycle:
- Presale Consultation and Design Phase
- Installation Assurance Phase
- Post-installation and Operational Phase

For whom is NEC Professional Services

Our principal point of contact with customers is our Associate. Depending
on the mix of expertise and talent available to our Associates, we may
be called upon to install the hardware and set up the proper software
environment, leaving the full application implementation to the Associate
or End user. Or we may be utilized to bring the application to full implementation.

Professional Services?
The services offered in this program will grow as we add new products,
technologies, and capabilities. We have the experienced and professional
staff who are dedicated to making our Associates successful.
The primary focus of services is based on merging technologies and products.
Examples of these technologies and products are:

What services are provided under General
Product and Technology Consultation?
During the critical presale consultation and design phase of a project
all parties involved must quickly understand many variables. NEC Professional
Services will work with our Associates and customers to form a talented
team of professionals, subject matter experts and strategic partners to
assure that the project is properly scoped, designed and documented.
What services are provided under Product-specific
Consultation?
No one, with the fast paced development of today's products, knows a
product like those who work most closely with it through its lifecycle.
Through NEC Professional Services, our Associates are now able to bring
together the team needed to assure a clear understanding of the products
and applications. With presale product specific consulting, we assist
our Associates and our customers in detailing and documenting specifically
how the product fits and when and where other components or elements are
best utilized.
What services are provided under Multi-vendor
Collaborative Assistance?
When faced with sophisticated multi-vendor network implementations, it
is sometimes hard to correctly identify and isolate problems and performance
issues. NEC Professional Services can provide the independent technical
resources to assist our Associates in overcoming these obstacles, clearing
the way for a timely resolution and acceptance of the project.
What services are provided under Hardware
and Software Installation Assurance?
NEC is now offering our Associates the option for installation of NEC
CNG products using merging communications technologies. Not everyone has
knowledge and experience in Microsoft NT, UNIX and IP based products.
In cases where these resources do exist, they are in such demand that,
from time to time, additional resources are needed. Through NEC Professional
Services , NEC will provide such specialized expertise to perform a well-defined
set of tasks that assure the equipment and applications are correctly
installed within the environment where they will be used. This service
option is provided at a set fee and our associate can benefit by avoiding
costly overruns while maximizing customer satisfaction. This service provides
hardware and software implementation and does not include database implementation
or customization.
What Services are provided under Limited
Technology and Application Implementation?
With the Limited Implementation option, NEC will assist the Associate
in the definition and implementation of an agreed upon set of applications
and/or network elements. The customer may opt to have certain applications
and technologies only partially implemented, for the purpose of studying
their effectiveness in the enterprise environment. Such partial
implementations may also serve as "proof of concept" demonstrations leading
to eventual full deployment.
What services are provided under Comprehensive
Technology and Application Implementation?
With the Comprehensive Implementation option, NEC will undertake the
project of fully implementing applications, new technologies, and complicated
network designs, according to a mutually agreed upon scope of work. NEC
Professional Services will manage the project through pre-installation,
design, documentation, implementation, and acceptance.
What services are provided under
Hardware and Software Operational Optimization?
During the post cut over and operational phase of the application, many
operations, traffic, and business needs change. The Operational Optimization
option, enables the customer to have a team of consultants, engineers
and /or subject matter experts review the performance, evolution and needs
of the organization to re-engineer or optimize the application to achieve
a greater or more efficient level of performance.
What services are provided under
Customized Training?
Customized Training is normally performed at the site of the customer's
choice and may be tailored to meet the specific needs for their applications.
How Do I Get a Quotation?
Please contact your Regional NEC Sales Engineer or Account Manager.
They will process the request for quotation through Professional Services.
For fixed "scope of work" items, such as installation assurance for products
currently supported under the program, we are in the process of developing
an automated quotation system which will be available on our web site.
As other applications are included in the program, they will also be included
on the site. Quotations for wider-range engagements may require a discovery
fee to determine the scope of work. These are done on a case by case basis,
specific to the customer's needs.
How do we know what to expect from
a Quotation?
All prices are subject to a detailed and specific list of tasks that
are to be completed by NEC Professional Services personnel. NEC Professional
Services personnel will assist in any reasonable effort and/or manner
to assure good customer satisfaction. A Statement of Work (SOW) quotation
must be mutually agreed upon by Associate and NEC for any and all services
offered by NEC Professional Services.
How do I assist my Customer who wants
a large and complicated application designed specific to their needs?
Custom quotations are required for some products and/or projects. These
products and/or projects are of the type which require detailed analysis,
planning, design, implementation and acceptance. These projects normally
require a NEC Professional Services consulting fee to produce a product
or project definition. A product or project definition is a document,
which defines the attributes and specific tasks, and responsibilities
required for achieving a set goal, application, or capability.
Custom Quotations are done on a customer by customer as well as site
by site basis and may not be reused otherwise. The more information the
customer or end user can provide to accurately and completely define the
requirements and tasks needed to complete the product or project, the
less the consultation fee will be.
